Bouviers in Australia

The first Bouviers were imported into Australia in 1974 and were mainly belgian lines from UK
breeders.In later years more imports have come from Belgium ,Netherlands and also America.
Breeders are established in some Australian states,but the breed for now seems to have
reached a plateau in popularity.At the Royal Melbourne Show in 1985 ,45 Bouviers were entered,
since then the numbers have fallen in line with European trends.In obediance the first Bouvier
to reach his UD title was CH Balder v.h Lage Land and CD titles have been gained by several others
The versatility of the breed and the dedication of a handful of breeders to maintain the highest
international standards in this country,will ensure that the Bouvier Des Flandres stays on a steady
path of growth.
