The Queen of Darkness

  1. After Midnight

This story has one of the best opening lines I've ever seen, and it follows through on its initial promise. This is Amanda's take on what happened during the 'six month gap' in X-Men continuity, and she makes the pieces fit although it could never have been quite like this ... right?

  2. The Shadow Inside

Possessed by the Shadow King, Beast uses every shread of intellect and wisdom at his disposal to fight back. There just aren't enough authors in the world who can do justice to the depths of his brilliance, but this fic manages his characterisation nicely.

  3. Interlude in Bludhaven

In addition to tackling a wide variety of mutants, Amanda also writes DC fanfic from time to time, sometimes in her capacity as a Nightwing fangirl :). This is a fast-paced, well-plotted story about his relationship with Huntress, and the way all those sharp edges fit together.

  4. Love Lies Bleeding

I am not, to put it mildy, a huge Remy/Rogue fan. This is my kind of Remy/Rogue story, which ought to serve as fair warning enough.

  5. The Dreaming of Lost Souls

From time to time, Amanda ventures out of comic fanfiction altogether and graces some other genre with her presence. Here, she takes a trip to the Jossverse and considers the implications of losing your soul.

  6. Spoonbending With Mr. Nude

This story may require an explanation. In December 2001, a whole bunch of Australian comic fanficcers went to the second Auscon in Sydney. Yasmin found an extremely odd sentence written on the underside of my hostel bunk. I babbled about Magneto/Xavier slash incessently. There were sunbears, and gelati, and bad vampire romance novels. When she got home Amanda put it all in the blender and came out with this funny, surprisingly poignant, story. I adore it.

  7. Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature of Love

A few years after their separation, and older and more battered Kitty Pryde and Pete Wisdom are reunited to solve a case. Something very nasty indeed is killing people in Londn, and they're going to have to work together to make it stop. A well-characterised and satisfying mystery.
