About Obedience

Obedience training, more appropriately termed "Behavioural Training", is designed to provide instruction to dog owners on how their dog may take its place as a member of our community. It is SO much more than teaching the dog to walk nicely on lead.

TDTC provides a graduated training program which allows dogs and their owners to progress at their own pace. Levels of training comprise: Beginners (dogs with no training); Intermediate; Advanced, Novice and beyond.

On successful completion of the Advanced class, owners are awarded the "Obedience Trained Dog" Certificate which reduces the cost of ACT Government dog registration.

TDTC's obedience training uses the principles and practices of "Clicker Training".

To register for an Obedience Class, please contact the Club or download the application form.

To confirm your position in an Obedience class, you must fill out the application form completely and return it with:

  • Your fees;
  • The dogs vaccination certificate (or a copy); and
  • A stamped, self addressed envelope for the return of receipt and vaccination certificate.

The first week of the course for both Tuesday and Sunday is an introductory lecture and is held on the first Sunday.
Please don't bring your dog on this occasion.
