
What can you expect when you dial
the Emergency 13 14 65 number?
The phone will be answered by a mental health professional who will:
Over the phone discuss problems, provide information and assistance.
Provide a telephone assessment, counselling and information service.
Provide short term support and counselling during a period of crisis.
Provide psychiatric information.
Provide referral to the service/ person best placed to assist you with continuing care if this is needed eg specialist psychiatric services, mental health teams, general practitioners and other services.
The outcome of the call is intended to
Ascertain the problems, difficulties being experienced by a person in the community.
Provide telephone risk assessment, support and counselling where appropriate
Coordinate and/or facilitate appropriate acute management for consumers.
