Inpatient Information for consumers and families

This information is provided to familiarise those considering admission to the Inpatient Service with the services offered. Additional information will be made available upon admission.

Admission
Our Psychiatrist will make the necessary arrangements for your admission to hospital and your local doctor will be notified. A consultation will be arranged upon arrival. A physical examination will be undertaken by a Medical Practitioner within 48 hours of admission (unless otherwise specified).

The first priority when you arrive is a careful assessment of your needs so that an individual treatment program can be designed. All proposed treatments and therapy will be discussed with you and your carers should you so desire.

Medication
For your own safety and that of other patients, all medication in your possession (including laxatives, Panadol, herbal and vitamin products) must be handed to the Nursing staff on admission. While you are an inpatient all medication prescribed by your Psychiatrist for your use will be paid for by the hospital. The purchase of other personal items from the Pharmacy (such as eye drops, toothpaste, shaving cream and deodorants) are your own responsibility.

Visiting Hours
Please contact the Ward re visiting times. Visitors are requested to report to the Nurses Station on arrival.
