MANCHESTER:

J.BILLINGTON, Pte, K,O,(Scottish Borders)

He volunteered in August 1914, and in the following November proceeded to the Western Front. Hewaas in action at Neauve Chapelle,Ypres, the Somme,Passchendacle,and The Retreat and Advance in 1918 at also served for a time at Nieuport, and Dunkirk. Demobolised in February 1919 he holds the 1914 Star, General Service and Victory Medals 12 Pollard St East,Ancoats, Manchester

W. BILLINGTON. GUNNER. R.F.A.

Having previously served for twelve years with the Colours, he re-enlisted in August 1914 and was at once ordered to France. There he took part with the Battery in the retreat from Mons,and the Battles of Neuve Chapcile,Loos,La Bassee,Festubert,Arras,Ypre and Cambrai.  He was wounded in action on the Somme in September 1918 and sent to hospital at the Base, being eventually evacuated to England. He was demobolised in Janaury 1919 and hold the Mons Star and the General Service and Victory Medals 36 Randolph St, Openshaw,Manchester.

SALFORD

E. BILLINGTON, SAPPER, R.E.

He joined in December 1916, and three months later was drafted to the Western Front. There he was employed as a linesman on field telephones and served at Messines, Ypres,Passchendaele, and in various sectors during the retreat and advance of 1918. In June of that year he was invalided home on account of ill health and after his recovery was engaged on important duties at Crowborough and at the G.P.O. Manchester until demobilised in March 1919. He hold the General Service and Victory Medals. 29 Allen(u) St, Lower Broughton.

J. BILLINGTON, GUNNER. R.F.A.

 He volunteered in January 1915 and proceeded to France in the following July. After serving at a base he was transferred to Egypt and did good service with his guns on the Suez Canal and in the Palestine Campaign at Jiffajaffa & Jerusalem. He then contracted a fever and after the Armistice was sent ot hospital at Cairo and Alexandria. Eventually demobilised in March 1919, he holds the 1914-1915 Star, & the General Service and Victory Medals. 3 Cambridge St, Salford.

J. BILLINGTON. PRIVATE, NORTHANTS REGIMENT

He joined in June 1917 and after serving at Prees Health and in Ireland, was drafted to France in December. He then saw heavy fighting during the Retreat and Advance, particularly at the Somme and Marne, but unfortunately contracted pneumonia whilst at Mous and died on November 18th 1918. He was buried at Valenciennes and was entitled to the General Service and Victory Medals."His Memory is cherished with Pride". Earl St, Swinton

W BILLINGTON, CORPORAL, MIDDLESEX REGIMENT;

Volunteering in October 1914 he was quickly drafted to the Western Front and took part in  many engagements in various sectors. He was in action at the Battle of Loos. St. Eloi, Vermelles and Somme,Arras,Messines,Ypres,Cambrai,and in the Retreat and Advance of 1918 He did continually good work throughout the period of hostilities and in February 1919 was demobolised holding the 1914-1915 Star,and the General Service and Victory Medals.  13 Mason St, Pendleton.
