The Americas

Brazilian Coffee:All Brazilian coffees are Arabicas and almost all are prpared by the dry method. There are about 300,000 farms located at altitudes of 1,800-4,000ft., high on rolling plateaus. They bear the names of the states in which they are grown or ports through which they are shipped.

Colombia:All Colombian coffee are Arabicas and prepared by the wet method. Most is grown on the slopes of the Andes and is of usually very good quality

Costa Rica:Mostly favoured by the Europeans, Costa Rica coffees are also Arabicas and grown at altitudes ranging from 1,600 to 5,400 ft on both the Atlantic and Pacific slopes.

Guatemala:Grown mainly on the central and southern regions it is classified according to altitude.

Jamaica:The Jamaica Blue Mountains are the home of one of the world's most famous coffees. mellow and sweet tasing its low yeild makes the authentic Blue Mountain more expensive.

Africa

Angola:Used mostly for blends it is among one of the highest coffee producers in the world.

Ethiopia:Grown since before the ninth century it is from the Ethiopian town of Kaffa that coffee may have received its name. Much of the coffe grows wild and so goes unpicked do to inaccessability.

Kenya:All of Kenya's coffee is of the Arabica variety has a smooth but slightly acid flavor.

Asia

India:A large proportion of India's crop is Arabica and mostly from the state of Karnataka.

Indonesia:The Indonesian island of Java was one of the first and greatest of the world's coffee producers. The crop is mainly Robusta due to its sturdiness and high yeild.

Yemen:The coffee is Mocha, long considered on of the world's most uniquely delicious coffees. Mocha, named after a small port, was the first coffee enjoyed by Europeans. The term mocha has now established itself to mean the flavor of coffee and chocolate in combination.
