CONSIDERATIONS & OPTIONS
Independents
While a few independents have the local popularity to overcome a complete media gag on themselves and favoured treatment for the Two Party Preferred candidates, to expect a nation wide takeover by independents is unrealistic.
There is no way independents can organise the 200 people needed to man each of the 65 polling booths in the 146 electorates and expect a win in the House of Representatives let alone win a majority of the 76 Senate seats with a common group name in all six states.
Registered Parties
Past experience would indicate that any new party is easily infiltrated and destroyed by using the unrestrained powers of the headquarters to:
Misdirect energy into useless activities
Re-invent constitutions
Re-invent policies
Select wrong candidates and get rid of good ones
Prevent cooperation with like minded groups
Steal the membership lists
Misappropriate funds
Steal the computers records
Prevent branches interacting and expanding
Use funds to communicate only with the already converted
Create infighting and legal wrangles
Get rid of any members with guts, brains or initiative
Make sure there is no preparation for the next election
Mismanage election material and distribution
Deliberately give preferences wrongly to upset members
Put a dictator at the helm, and
Drive the ship into the nearest reef.
The jailing of Pauline Hanson was the best example of the power behind the ALP/Dem/Lib/Nat/Green machine when they want to destroy a party.
The fury of external attacks on One Nation was genteel compared with the attacks made by PHON-HQ on any member who believed in democracy, a grass roots party, productivity, activity, honesty or integrity. So many in the party were hurt and too many who followed the party were betrayed by HQ. The name so stinks that PHON can never rise again under its own name.
Unregistered Parties
There is no legal requirement to be A REGISTERED PARTY. It is quite lawful to call a group by almost any name, even Pete’s Patriot Party. We could stand in every electorate, have coreflute signs, hand out flyers, put adverts in papers, hand out how-to-vote cards etc. SO – Why register?
The advantage of a “registered” party is that the candidate gets (in small letters) after his/her name on a ballot paper a few letters to signify what registered group he belongs to. (e.g. Alp-Dem-Nat-Lib-Grn). The disadvantage is the party must give the Electoral Commission membership lists, financial details, have a registered officer, and comply with reams of bureaucratic tripe.
House Groups
House groups have many advantages. They don’t need the formality of meetings, procedure, records, accounting for money (because it is theirs) and they can act quickly with little restraint. They cannot be misdirected by any headquarters. They can be too numerous and too hard for the major parties to infiltrate but they lack the COMMON NAME that would be needed to get Senate and House of Representative candidates elected across Australia.
Alliances
Most alliances make demands that few minor parties can abide by. They demand adherence to a set of rules and policies. If one rule or one policy is abhorrent to any group that group won’t join. Nobody can be coerced into dropping their pet theory or policy. There is nothing wrong with disagreement provided, at the end of the day, all concerned can live with losing to a majority vote AND even if they lose it their God given right to still protest and lobby openly for their will and their ideas to prevail.
They demand that only “the best” candidate be selected. If any group is denied the right to stand their candidate they leave. There nothing wrong with fielding two candidates and interchanging preferences.
Most alliances demand that those joining the alliance terminate membership of any party. This is the wrong track. We should encourage alliance members to be in as many parties as possible to extend influence and improve communications.
A coalition of alliances, minor parties, and groups provides the nearest alternative to independent representation where the “party HQ” cannot direct policy, chose candidates, or force the candidate to vote against his/her conscience.
There are 350 pro-freedom groups. Some have large memberships while others are almost one-man bands. All have more influence than any lone individual and we need influence.
There are two million unionists and they are waking that the ALP is no longer the working man’s party. There are two million students and they are waking that neither the ALP nor the Liberals will ever permit free education in Australia. Without the unions and students we cannot win so we need to cultivate them and convince them that we truly espouse what they want.
If you look at the socialist web pages you will find they are pushing the same policies in different words. The left calls the Money Masters capitalists. We call them multi-nationals or Transnationals.
WHAT ORGANISATION CAN BEAT THE ALP/DEM/LIB/NAT/GREENS?
If it has a single head it can be white anted. The head is always used to destroy the body. There are two alternatives NO HEAD or TOO MANY HEADS.
No Head Concept
This uses the independent as the spearhead. By getting the independents up and running two years before the election they have the chance to optimize their election chances by organising house groups of like minded people in their electorate. By like minded I mean all who believe in STOP SELLING EVERYTHING – TAX - REDUCE REGULATION - GET OUR OWN BANK - PUNISHMENT MUST FIT THE CRIME - STOP OUTSOURCING - PUT PENAL CLAUSES ONTO POLITICIANS - FAIRLY DISTRIBUTE PENSION MONEY - RECONSIDER ALL U.N. TREATIES - BRING IN CITIZEN INITIATED REFERENDUM
All who have been in parties know or have a list of these active people. If we as individuals write to them and say, “We are planning to surprise the major parties by having teams of loyal Australians in every electorate WORKING QUIETLY. We are forming house groups who are forming more house groups to come out of the woodwork when Howard calls the SURPRISE election.
What we want you to do is tell 50 people in your town and other towns to get a house group going to support any candidates who believes we should STOP SELLING EVERYTHING – TAX - REDUCE REGULATION - GET OUR OWN BANK - PUNISHMENT MUST FIT THE CRIME - STOP OUTSOURCING - PUT PENAL CLAUSES ONTO POLITICIANS - FAIRLY DISTRIBUTE PENSION MONEY - RECONSIDER ALL U.N. TREATIES - BRING IN CITIZEN INITIATED REFERENDUM group will be supporting like minded independent candidates running under a broad banner of the (unregistered) INDEPENDENTS ALLIANCE. The word ALLIANCE will signify a belief in our common goals so we can interchange preferences with like minded independents and minor parties.
In the year and months leading up to the 2007 election we do nothing to tell the ALP/Dem/Lib/Nat/Greens that we are organizing BUT we communicate ideas and strategies to all activists. We set a deadline for admitting that we are working together AND we put into place a contingency plan for IMMEDIATE ACTION just in case little Johnnie pulls the old 26-days-notice-of-an-election trick.
Multiple Head Concept
This uses the minor parties and “existing groups” concept as the spearhead BUT relies on the ALLIANCE CONCEPT to identify common aims. It allows parties to have a contingency plan when the Electoral Commission WON’T REGISTER THEM or DEREGISTERS THEM for some frivolous reason to please the government.
One Nation can wear two hats the One Nation Party (registered) and the NATION ALLIANCE (unregistered). Australia First could have two hats, the Australia First (registered) and the OZ FIRST ALLIANCE (unregistered). Every group could have a contingency plan to come out at the last minute as any name including ALLIANCE so all would know the believe we should STOP SELLING EVERYTHING – TAX - REDUCE REGULATION - GET OUR OWN BANK - PUNISHMENT MUST FIT THE CRIME - STOP OUTSOURCING - PUT PENAL CLAUSES ONTO POLITICIANS - FAIRLY DISTRIBUTE PENSION MONEY - RECONSIDER ALL U.N. TREATIES - BRING IN CITIZEN INITIATED REFERENDUM.
OUR ACHILLES HEEL
We only need half or three quarters of the 360 groups who want to save Australia to say, “This unity is not what I want.” to destroy any chance of saving the day. Some are so blinkered they will renege on any suggestion to work together. These are worse than the enemy. They pretend to be with us. So it is up to individual supporters of waving groups to get them to work as one on an ALLIANCE of like minded loyal Australians.
THE ELEMENT OF SURPRISE
We can’t get our act together without warning the major parties that we have a surprise in stall for them but we can establish links with every house group and minor party so we can communicate last minute tricks to each other. So I want each of you to put together a list of individuals and contacts you could write to, phone, fax, email or talk to coordinate activities in the 2007 elections.
ACTION
Please forward this to every contact you can think of who has had enough of the major parties stuffing a great country and selling us out. Nothing is perfect the first time so this draft can be amended. Improved and sent on to every activist and group so they can start moving to have a real win in 2007.
This time there will be no high profile leaders to jail and there will be no high profile headquarters to stuff candidates and branches my misdirecting efforts, hiding membership and contact lists, wasting funds or creating litigation. It is JUST US and we are going to spread like the flu – unseen but a real pain in the head to the major parties.
Tony
PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF THIS IDEA. I AM HAPPY TO RECEIVE SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT OR CRITICISM. THIS TIME PLEASE ACT. JUST SEND IT ON TO A FEW PEOPLE EVEN IF YOU DON’T BELIEVE IT WILL WORK. IF YOU HAVE A BETTER IDEA TELL US.
