Gnome does not seem to have any problem making removable devices available for mounting. KDE recognised that the removable device was inserted, but attempting to open (or mount) the device results in the error `failed to mount device'. Examining /var/log/message shows that `kernel: FAT: Unrecognized mount option "flush" or missing value'. Open `media:/' in Konqueror, this is also available by opening Konqueror via the bottom panel, and then choosing `Storage Media'. Right click the removable device in the device tree, choose `Properties'. Under the `Mount' tab, unclick `Flushed IO'.
