(in reply to a letter from a person who had previously used Emplant succesfully with his Newton using the Appletalk protocol. Unfortunately, although Emplant worked with his A3000, it did not work with his A3000T. Now he is using ShapeShifter, but the cable he was using previously did not work...)

The above cable is in fact a null modem cable. It could not without
modification, for example, be used to connect a Newton to a modem.
