Yet Another Package InstallerUse `Yet Another Package Installer', which uses XModem (slowly) to upload packages to your Newton. Unfortunately, you will have to find some other means (borrow someone's Mac/Windows machine) to upload YAPI to the Newton in the first place... Unfortunately, the problems don't stop there. Most Newton packages are available in .hqx (a uuencoded-like format called BinHex). That isn't too bad, there are hqx decoders for the Amiga. The real killer is that many Newton packages are ALSO compressed with Stuffit `.sit'. There are VERY old stuffit de-compressors available for the Amiga, they often do not work. I have only tried this package with Newton OS 1.3. MouseThere is a program on the Aminet hard/drivr (Mouse - various version numbers e.g. mousev1b.lzh) which allows you to use the Newton as a graphic tablet for the Amiga! |
