Marie Pisani (nee Kyrstyn) 13 Aug 1926 – 03 Jul 2007 RIP : wonderful mother and beautiful soul.
I've been using the Internet to trace my family tree for the past couple of years. I've not yet travelled to Europe, Mediterranean and Africa to do direct searches, or employed some of the professional genealogy researchers to trace registers, but I hope to do some of that in the next couple of years. For now all I have is a family tree written perhaps by my great grandfather Guiseppe in 1918. It lists names and birth and marriage dates back to 1745. But frustratingly no places. This is how it goes:
Male names (* = my ancestor): Federico(b.1745/* in Venice), Lorenzo(1780/* in Malta), Guiseppe(1810/*), Vincenzo(c.1835), Tomaso(c.1839), Gaetano(1841/*), Guiseppe(1870/* to Alexandria, Egypt), Max(1900/to England), Victor(1901/* to Australia), Attilio(born c.1912/ to Perth, Australia 1945), Joseph(1926/* to Sydney, Australia 1949), Adrian(1930/ to Sydney, Australia 1949). Last two generations not listed. (See Librei and Pollacco documents).
My Dad has given me his recollection of which Pisani's came to Australia on the S.S. Misr in January 1949, with notes on which relatives arrived seperately in 1947, 1951 and 1953. These Pisani's arrived in Melbourne and settled there as well as in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.
NEW: Laurence Pisani (UK - see links below) has just received news from my Dad's cousin Edwin (Max's son) that he has evidence of his family's descent from Gaetano's (b. 1841 - see above) elder brother (Vincenzo) and that Federico came to Malta from Venice. I'm looking forward to incorporating that extension of my family history as soon as possible. Well done cousin Laurence. great detective work.

Other names by marriage, Bonett,

Pisa: the city on the Arno River in Tuscany. A centre of the expansion of trade in the 1100-1200s along with the other Italian cities of Genoa and Venice.
Admiral Vettor Pisani. No known relationship (yet!), but anything's possible. He was one of two famous Pisani Venetian Admirals who inflicted defeats on the Genoese during the 130 years battle for Mediterranean naval supremacy between the two city states known as the Chioggia Wars. Nicolo Pisani in 1353-54, Vettor or Vittorio Pisani 1378-79. Vettor was Nicolo's son who won a decisive victory over Genoa in the fourth war between the two maritime powers.
Pisani Class Cruiser (Warship)
Palazzo Pisani. Did some of my genetic material wander around this place once? Wow! The Villa Pisani had a famous maze.
Who was Giovanni Pisani, who bought the Villa Pisani in 1523?
Alvise Pisani was a Doge of Venice around 1740.
