Order Cuculiformes

This group contains primitive members of the terrestrial radiation, specifically the cuckoos and roadrunners, which are found worldwide. The foot has a fourth toe capable of being turned back beside the first toe, and the tail is long. Latin: cuculus, cuckoo + forma, shape. (Dorit et al, 1991)
