Class Enteropneusta

This group contains the acorn worms, which are worm-like creatures with a cylindrical proboscis and collar and a long trunk. Many species burrow in sand or mud; other live beneath stones or among algae. Greek: enteron, intestine + pneustikos, breathing. (Dorit et al, 1991)
