Class Trematoda

Also known as flukes, this is a group of endoparasites, mostly of vertebrates. The body has anterior and more posteriorly located suckers present but no opisthaptor. The life cycle requires one or more intermediate hosts. Greek: trematodes, pierced. (Dorit et al, 1991)
